OUR SUSTAINABILITY

At Naelo Silk, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of our foundation. From sourcing premium natural materials to embracing eco-conscious production techniques, we make intentional choices that honor heritage craftsmanship, support communities, and protect our planet. We believe beauty should never come at the expense of responsibility—and that every design can tell a story that’s both meaningful and mindful.

THE ARTISTRY OF SILK

With roots stretching across millennia, silk has always stood for timeless elegance, genuine connection, and enduring artistry. At Naelo Silk NYC, we honor this rich history—reimagining classic silk craft with bold creativity, contemporary style, and a spirit of inclusivity.

SAFETY

We use skin-safe, eco-friendly dyes to care for our creators, our partners, and every wearer. As a result, our scarves boast vivid, long-lasting colors that meet rigorous global standards for safety and sustainable craftsmanship

ZERO-PLASTIC PACKAGING

We adopt fully plastic-free packaging crafted from recyclable paper. Exquisitely designed, it cuts down ecological footprint and brings a premium unboxing experience in line with our core beliefs.

DEADSTOCK REUSE – MINIMIZING WASTE

We pursue eco-friendly elegance by repurposing leftover materials — turning unused textiles into finely finished works. Our classic accessory fully embodies this idea: every piece is handmade from surplus fabrics and decorated with fine details cut from leftover silk. What we create are exclusive items that blend green awareness with exquisite artisanal skills.

OTHER SUSTAINABLE FABRICS
Silk stays as the core of our creations, and we steadily enrich our material selection with more natural, decomposable fibers — including cashmere, organic cotton, linen and ethically sourced viscose. Sticking to eco-friendly principles, we reject polyester and all synthetic fabrics, so every item follows our green concept from raw materials to finished goods.

MUD SILK – PRESERVING A DYING HERITAGE

At Naelo Silk, we take pride in inheriting Mud Silk, a precious intangible craft fading away in South China. This fully plant-derived and chemical-free technique, among the world’s most eco-friendly textile arts, shapes mulberry silk with time-honored handiwork passed down for centuries.

Skilled craftspeople in Shunde treat silk with natural gambier extract full of tannins, then cover the fabric with iron-rich river silt for one to three months. After sun curing and oxidation via the traditional process of three rinses, nine boils and eighteen exposures to sunlight, every piece gains distinctive rustic texture and subtle metallic glow. Natural variations stand as genuine marks of pure handcraft.

There is an old adage: “Each piece of Mud Silk is unique; its natural traits embody true charm.” We keep this ancient craft alive to safeguard traditional art and our environment, sticking to slow and eco-friendly silk making with every yard we create.
